MALHY's 2024 Achievements: Empowering Communities Through Support and Education

November 04, 20242 min read

At MALHY, we're dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of youth and families through community partnerships, educational initiatives, and supportive resources. We’re excited to share our recent achievements that reflect this commitment.

Providing Support to Families in Need

This year, MALHY has made strides in offering direct support to families and individuals facing hardship:

  • 20 Hotel Partnerships: Through our partnerships with 20 hotels, we’ve been able to secure shelter and comfort for those in need, providing a temporary place to stay during difficult times.

  • Food Assistance for 130 Families: With the help of our community and generous donations, we’ve provided essential food supplies to 130 families, ensuring they have nutritious meals.

  • Clothing Donations: Our recent clothing drive was a tremendous success! We collected over 500 articles of clothing, which will be distributed to families and individuals in need, providing them with essential items for everyday life.

April’s Financial Literacy Initiative: Building a Foundation for Future Success

In April, we took a bold step forward with a Financial Literacy Class aimed at empowering the next generation with essential life skills. Our program introduced 30 young participants to the basics of managing finances, covering topics such as:

  • Credit and Investment: Understanding credit scores and the fundamentals of investing.

  • Mortgages and Savings: Key insights on saving for major purchases, including the process of securing a mortgage.

  • Retirement Planning: Highlighting the importance of early retirement savings.

  • Check Writing: Teaching the essentials of writing and managing checks.

  • Entrepreneurship: Inspiring future business owners with entrepreneurial knowledge.

This class has already begun to make a positive impact, equipping young people with the knowledge to navigate financial independence and make informed financial decisions for years to come.

Daisy Walk 2024

Theresa Daisy Walk for Mental Health: Promoting Awareness and Unity

Also in April, MALHY hosted the Theresa Daisy Walk for Mental Health in collaboration with the Veteran Service Support Network (VSSN). This event was a powerful gathering of about 100 participants of all ages, united in the mission to raise awareness and support for mental health. Participants came together to walk, share stories, and show solidarity for this vital cause.

We are grateful for the support of our community, our partners, and the countless volunteers who have contributed to making these initiatives possible. Together, we’re creating a brighter future and fostering resilience and hope within our community.

Thank you for supporting MALHY's mission. Stay connected for upcoming events and opportunities to get involved!
